About the Author Jonathan Bailey grew up in L.A. and made aliya in 2006. He obtained a Bachelors in English literature from Yeshiva University and rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Riskin and Rabbi Brovender at Yeshivat HaMivtar, and from Rav Nechemiah Goldberg. He lives with his wife and sons in Jerusalem, where he teaches full time at Midreshet HaRova.

You Have to Know Torah: The Weekly Parsha in Clues א through ת

Most people do not have the time to study the parsha in depth every week, yet merely reading through it can result in a very unsatisfying “skim” of our most significant text. Every parsha contains twenty-two questions, or clues, that follow an א–ת format: the answer to the first clue begins with a word that starts with the letter alef, the answer to the second clue with a word that begins with the letter bet, and so on. This book provides “clue and answer” sheets for all fifty-four parshiyot, focused on the text itself. (Examples of questions - פ: One of the two Egyptian midwives; צ: She saved the day - and Moshe - with a rock; ק: Bnei Yisrael scattered all over Egypt to collect this.) By reading carefully in order to find the answers to the clues, your read of the parsha will not only become one of active involvement, but will also lead to an appreciation of its deeper themes.
