Wrote critiques for submitted works, guiding rewrites and improvements for the authors.
Edited over fifty books, including fiction across a range of genres such as contemporary literary fiction, historical fiction, crime fiction and books in translation; non-fiction such as works on food and history/politics, and religious writings. Editing included critiques for rewrites where necessary, line editing and copy editing.
Proofread new-in-paperback acquisitions (books that were received already edited but with re-formatting necessary).
Wrote catalogue copy, jacket copy and press releases.
Managed junior staff and freelancers, determined schedules of publication and assigned/supervised editing and proofreading of all Toby Press publications.
Worked with the typesetting department to ensure all books were formatted correctly; bore ultimate responsibility for books going to print.
Met with sales reps and others in the publishing industry bi-yearly to present our titles (in NY, Toronto and London).

Maintained and updated site, developed new versions of site, proofread and edited website copy.
Edited/wrote articles for inclusion in the Atomica content database.

Associate Editor, Virtual Communities Ltd: 1998-2000
Was one of a team of editors conceptualizing and developing online ethnic communities.
Had sole responsibility for development of History, Arts and Food sections on Virtual Jerusalem.
Team lead in developing Virtual Ireland, researching appropriate structure, content, and partners for site.
Selected and edited content on a weekly basis for both sites, wrote introductory copy for all articles.
Wrote original articles on relevant topics including Jewish and Israeli history and food, and book and film reviews.

Edited and proofread articles from Encyclopaedia Judaica for inclusion in concise Judaica.
Researched & wrote new articles for Encyclopaedia.
